The Tahoe Elementary School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee meet on the third or fourth Thursdays most months. Together we review current data, programs and resources and develop plans for school improvement. It is difficult for us to get parents involved on these committees, but it’s not a huge commitment of time (6 to 8 meetings a year) and it’s really important to have parent ideas, concerns and advice for school management.
All elementary and middle schools have decided to participate in the School Based Coordinated Program (SBCP) using School Improvement Program funds; therefore, they are REQURIED to have School Site Councils. (Some high schools have school site councils to administer other programs and funds.) The bylaws of these councils govern their activities.Half of the Council members are school staff; the majority of this group must be classroom teachers. The rest should be comprised of school community members. This is an important decision making team and many elements of our school are decided with the support of the School Site Council. If you are interested in having a voice in the decision making process pleas consider joining School Site Council. At Tahoe we meet on the 4th Thursday of every month in room 6 from 5:00-6:00pm.
